"The Birds" - another incredible story by Alfred Hitchcock
"The Birds" (1963)
Directed by Alfred Hitchcock Starring: Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Veronica Cartwright Average rating: 7,5
"The Birds" - it's not difficult to guess what the film will be about and especially if it was produced by Alfred Hitchcock. The transparency of the plot in the names of his film is normal. Let`s remember, for example, his classic horror film «Psycho» - it's not difficult to guess which antagonist will be present in the film; or "Rear Window", and it's immediately clear that the person will be appearing in the film who is observing certain events from the window.
The uniqueness of Hitchcock's films is in simplicity and at the same time in a bewitching plot. If the modern producer would re-shoot this film, the emphasis would be on the figure of the bird and it would be brighter presented to the viewer for sure. Hitchcock, on the contrary, made an emphasis on the emotions and experiences of the heroes, their excitement from the upcoming. And the birds superimposed on the frame make the scene more authentic and terrifying.
What about the storyline? Young, beautiful, and living her best life Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) meets lawyer Mitch Brennem (Rod Taylor) in the zoo's shop, who started to be interested in male character in the first moment. On the occasion of Sister Mitch's birthday, Melanie decides to give her a present and give two birds as she arrives in a small village outside of San Francisco. Exactly in this small town, the further events of the film will develop the story of love, anxiety, and for unexplained reasons an aggressive attack by birds. Moreover, by tradition, the viewer enters a state of suspense while watching the film.
The cast of the film is very well-chosen as well. There are no empty scenes that are not particularly significant for the film, on the contrary, unexpected meetings and conversations of the main characters with people they meet are very pleasing to the eye. A great demonstration of emotions in a mimic expression from Tippy Hedren is also very attractive in the film.
